    Default Phosphates in Corpus water supply? No, test kit not good

    Phosphates at .5ppm straight from RO/DI. Anything other than chaeto or phosban reactor to control this? My tank is cycling now with just some live rock, but the diatom bloom is taking off. Will it die off or will water changes just keep it going? From what I've read it disappears eventually. Anyone local have a little chaeto to spare?

    what kind of filtration system are you running? there are multiple ways to combat phosphates, but it all depends on the type you are running. if it is a small tank, i would suggest seachem phosguard. it works real well in smaller systems. you just put it in a hi-flow area and give it a week.

    marinedepot has it for like ~$6.00. check it out.

    Thanks. I have an aquaclear 70 (loaded with polyfill) and the live rock in a 40 breeder. Will check out the seachem.

    Maybe add another sediment filter and another carbon block filter? You should PM Russ, he's from Buckeye Field Supply.

    How old is your TFL membrane? You are using the correct flow restictor right? Also what is the water pressure reading on your unit? I havnt had any problems with my RODI unit in regards to phosphates so you may have something else going on. Just trying to think of all possibilities.

    The unit is new and from Buckeye Field Supply. I got the chloramine special. Water pressure is always at least 50. So you are saying I shouldn't be having phosphates in my RO/DI water? That's what I thought initially. I will email Russ.

    Yeah, something seems off, have you checked your test results with a different kit? Sometimes the phosphates tests can be off by quit a lot.

    Phosphate test kit was off. Tested at LFS and were zero. I am using the API test kit. What do you guys use? Is it a crap shoot with any of them?

    Might have been expired. I have an API kit and its been accurate so far. Glad to hear you got it solved though.
