Coralline algae on acrylic?

On Drs. Foster & Smith, they have this thing called the mag-flip and supposedly it gets coraline algae off. I was going to order it but apparently my order didn't go in "correctly." So I never got it. :(

Mainly because shipping is $9.99 and the product itself is $39.99.

Thanks for the info, I looked at the mag-flip razor looks like a good idea. Just wondering if it really works. The other question it says up to 3/8 thick my tank is 1/2. Has anyone used this on acrylic? I still haven't gotten the tank clean yet. I'm avoiding it like the black plague!

the kent scrapers work well when they are new. With thick coralline they get dull fast.(the acrylic ones) You can either buy several of them or when they do get dull sand them so they are sharp again.

I'm sad to say I never got the mag-flip because according to them, my checkout wasn't complete. So I've yet to get my hands on one.
I do though have the Kent Scrappers and work really well in my tank.
I bought the short and the long just to get into further or tighter spaces.
They work really well and less expensive than the mag-flip.

why is it that some aquarium shops allow some of their show tanks to accumulate a ton of coraline algae. Do they think its beneficial to the tank? I think to some degree a little looks ok. More so on the rock than the walls of the tank. But having the entire back wall or sides encrusted with it is a little much. I have a hard time getting algae out of scratches in my glass, can imagine spending 6 hours scraping and only a 3rd thru. My thumbs get cramps in them. LOL

My husband is also really bad about cleaning our 600 gallon acrylic. I usually tell him that I am going to put it on craigslist for $500 dollars if he doesn't clean it. Last month he said the Mag Float and scraper gave him carple tunnel syndrome. Our acrylic is 1" thick so we can't find anything that will work. If you find something let me know we can split shipping.

Our tank is 36" deep and I use a Magnavore 10 magnet and the Kent Aqua Scraper with acrylic safe blades (3 different lengths) and it works well if you do it a couple times a week, but if you wait too long like I do it becomes a PITA to get the coraline off the acrylic. I normally do a little at a time, but it kills my CTS so I give my step son $20 dollars to scrape it off for me. You wanna borrow him? ;)

I'm waiting for the larger Mag Flip to become availabe to give it a try.
