Port A Laborday weekend

I took the family out to Port A for a weekend get-a-way. We fished at Charlies Pasture and on the Jetties. My kids did really good on the jetties, they pulled in 3 triggers , 9+ three striped (brownish/black) angelfish and a mess of pinfish. My seven year old also fought something out there for about 5 minutes before it bit through his 30 lb wire leader.

I was impressed though when my 5 year old noticed snails on the rocks and was picking at them. When I asked him what he was doing he said "I'm putting them back in the water so they don't die."

I also found an interesting specimen on the beach, I have yet to identify it. It makes interesting sounds when poked and it appears to bury itself up to it's neck when threatened. I will keep researching it, to find it's exact species.

those black and white "angelfish" are probably Atlantic spadefish......i hear they are pretty tasty if you can get a large enough one, however....lots of bones......pretty fish too



not sure what that beach organism is.....it looks to be having fun whatever it is!!!! great picture!

I think that organism is a rare south texas beach combing kid, really neat to watch, especially during the teenage years lol, looks like you had a great weekend, i worked on my truck and cut dead trees down for my mother in law. she took labor day as literal meaning lol.
