    Default Acan verses Candycane

I have an acan that I picked up from BB prior to their move. It has about 10-12 heads (if you count the two small ones). The other day I noticed an emerald crab beneath it on its back pushing it up and down (well, it did this about three times).

I didn't want to inturrupt his work out so I went to work. Got home and the Acan was upside down resting on a single head of candy cane coral. Cursing my earlier laziness and also the musclehead crab I reached into the tank to replace the Acan to its original position.

You can imagine what I found. Looked as if one Acan head was completely gone, and the candy cane head was covered in a jelly like substance.

So which one won? The Acan bounced back beautifully and the candy cane head seems to have perished. Now I have to permantly affix the Acan to prevent this from happening again.

Maybe the crab is trying to add some feng shui to your tank. Or, the upside down large Acan on the candycane represents the struggle of his kind to be accepted by mainstream society. You go Emerald crab, fight the good fight!!!

my experience with acan they usually win except when they war with lobos. if the acan had fallen on a lobo the lobo would have melted the acan.

Coral wars freak me out! Keep an eye on the candy cane. I've had a candy cane head die from being touched by a mushroom. When one goes, sometimes they all start to go. You might want to dip the candy cane so it is not as stressed.

Ok, I hadn't thought about the other heads. I will do that before adding the RODI to topoff the tank.

That bites! You know I like those ricordias too. I've only got three different rics, and I keep hoping that it will either grow or split. I got one from HG that is orange with a nice green inner circle... about two or three mouths on it.

I'd really like to get my hands on some really bright rics.

Hey Recoil, that crab needs to stay off the 'roids! But if you see any reef safe crab sized barbells let me know.

Heh, I have a bulldozing turbo snail I can lend you. I doubt even that sucker could move this one. My emeralds and him always get in "fights" on my rocks. Once right after lights out the emerald kept smacking him on the shell because they both were fighting over a nice patch of algae. The snail won. He also won against 3 frags, daggum snail.

Next time your at Taz's place, let me know I have a green ricordea you are welcome to have. Since I'm going all SPS, I'm getting rid of some of my softies.

Btw, frogspawn will nuke an acan every time, I had one of my frogspawn frags fall on a colony while I was on my honeymoon and when I returned I had nothing left but a skeleton, the fragspawn looks good as ever.

Jonathan... kind of makes you wonder if the vows were worth the cost huh? Just kidding, but I'll ask you in 17 years when that cold dead look settles into your eyes.
