    Default Frogspawn bleaching

    Frogspawn bleaching
I've had this new coral for 4 days.. It's a good size colony with 5 big heads. Looked great when I picked it up and has been on the decline since it has been in my tank. It first deflated and I panicked. The LFS told me not to worry that deflating is normal. The next day it was looking alright. Then since yesterday I've noticed some shrinkage and bleaching on 2 of the heads. I need some help! If you need anymore information from me let me know.

I currently have the coral on the bottom corner of the tank getting slow-moderate flow.

    Sorry no pics.

Salinity is a little high, how are you measuring it? Should be closer to .025. A good picture would help a lot...

OK, assuming that your salinity is really 1.023...

These are VERY sensitive to damage from bagging and shipping.

They tend to like lugols (iodine) dips when damaged. 10 drops per liter of tank water, dipped for 10-15 minutes. Agitate them (swirl slowly) at the end of the dip.

Do you mean 2 150W MH bulbs? When you got the frogspawn, do you remember what kind of lights it was under? If it was under very dim lighting and now under your MH that may be an issue. When I transfered my frogspawn from 144w pc lighting to my dual 175w mine lost some of its color for a few days I have a 24" deep tank, I moved it dead center and on the sandbed and it's now happy as can be.

Well here's the thing if the person packing the coral isn't delicate with the skin they will tear or bruise the skin. You won't notice right away but the skin will start to recede and the head will die. With my lps' I place them in the sand bed, they always seem to do better there, then in the rock work. Some times they will like med to high current or med to low current, it's very hard to tell it might take some moving to find out what the coral likes. Hope everything goes well.
