Feed Pump

What are ya'll using for the feed pump on your calcium reactor. I see many use Maxi Jets but usually choke them down. I have some fresh Aqualifter pumps and thought Id try one, anyone else use one on a Ca reactor?

I just used a aqua lifter on my old calcium reactor. My reactor was small enough where I did not need a big feed pump to keep up with the effluent output.

I used one for awhile but the reactors effluent line clogged too often. I have since tapped it to my return pump and increased the flow from a drip to a small stream(increased the co2 input as well). It still cloggs but it takes weeks instead of a few days.much less irritating

Do you think it might make a difference if the end of the effluent line were submerged? Im not running a sump and I dont want to add another pump to the tank...

I dont think it would make much of a difference. The clogging comes from the media as it melts.Its best to drip the effluent in a turbid area to avoid a ph drop from the co2. the lifter pump might be yourbest bet since you are sumpless and do not want to add another pump inside the display. I would recc getting the pre filter . I didnt use one but it might have helped

Thanks, I definately use the pre filter on my top off and the pumps last indefinitely. I may or may not drip the effluent in my skimmer, the tank runs a high Ph typicaly so I might try it in the tank first to maybe lower the Ph slightly...
