Default Best Budget Digi Cam to take Macro Reef Pics With?

Well I used to have this 99 dollar cheapie kodak camera that took better pictures than the one I have now, which cost closer to two hundred dollars. The lighting and filter selection was better for acentic lights, and the macro's were clearer, just all around everything about it took better reef pictures, I've been considering giving this camera to my girlfriend and buying another one for around 100 dollars, what is the best camera you guys have used and is there any one you have seen that has been very compareable to it that can match a decent budget? Thanks!

I've had pretty good luck with a Cannon 7.1 Power Shot Digital Elf. Cost is around $200. This thing has an aquarium setting and an underwater setting....really cool point N shoot.

take a look at canon lineup and get the most you can afford

this doesnt look bad for the price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nc.-_-30120286

    another good deal: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...15&lid=1003762

you didnt say what your budget was so i guessed, no consumer camera is going to be phenomenally better for macros than the other
