Thread: Molly Millers...

    Default Molly Millers...

well I went to Port A again and was an ok day...visibility was shot though underwater. I did manage to collect 2 anemone crabs, 3 white legged hermits, a decorator crab and about 15 molly millers...if anyone wants one let me know, they are in my Q tank for now.

I have one question for anyone that lives in CC or Port A...is there a specific time of day or month in when the water is not so turbulent? I went a few weeks back and the water was excellent I could dive and see about 15 feet in front of me, yesterday I couldnt see my hand in front of my face? What signs of weather should I look for to tell if the water will have better visibility? High winds? (winds last night were about 19-24 mph) maybe thats why? Thank you for any replies, I just had a great time that time I went and the visibily was so clear!

Wow thats really cool that you got all that stuff right in Port A. Where did you go to collect everything you got, and did you need some kind of license? Also, is there anywhere you could collect stuff if you didn't want to dive?

Well I collected everything at the jetties yesterday, the water was very murky though so diving wasn't so good...and if you want to collect the stuff...have a small net handy and as soon as the tide comes in drag your net up and against the sides of the rocks...you WILL catch a plethora of creatures. All you need is a fishing license that and a beach parking pass. Port A jetties are ok....best place though IMO is Packery Channel jetties on the Neusces (sp?) County side...if its a clear day and the underwater visibility is good...it is excellent snorkeling!! Can dive about 8 feet down and see all sorts of stuff..Flounders, shrimps, schools of all sorts of fish, sea turtles, sting rays, anemones, sponges, crabs of all sorts and the list goes on...its no Hawaiian reef but hey you take what you can get for now and what you get isn't bad at all!...Anytime anyone wants to meet there and maybe go diving just let me know. I'm always up for it!

oh and again if anyone wants any molly millers feel free to let me know, they are cute and great little algae eaters

it really all depends on the wind.....the wind creates waves and turbulence and in return creates alot of suspended sediment....it has been windy for at least a week now, some days more than others.....when you were going 3 weeks ago, we had had hardly any, if any wind at all...and it was a great 3 weeks.......as summers grows, there should be more clear days with the blue water coming closer, as long as the wind doesnt blow crazy forever.....right now...it was so-so, fishable, yes,...collectable, maybe

also, as for time of day..the calmest would be at nite, or in early morning before the wind picks up....generally typing that is
