Thread: Copperband Butterflyfish

    Default Copperband Butterflyfish

I got a copperband butterflyfish yesterday to help with my blooming aptasia. I haven't seen him eating when I feed the tank, but I do see him wandering around the tank scoping things out and sometimes nipping at rocks.

Should I be worried? Is there a good way to get them to start eating prepared food?

Let him clear out your aptasia and then pass him on to somebody else who needs the same work done.
    Logic?!? Auuggggghhhh!!!!

Mine always went for PE Mysis and live black mussels. Give one or both a try.

Copperbands have always been hit or miss when it comes to Aptasia. You will have better luck if you try a peppermint shrimp. With the shrimp also you dont have to worry about it nipping things.

I could try peppermints again. I have a several shrimp already so I don't want to over do the inverts. I have two fire shrimp and a coral banded shrimp. When I noticed aptasia I got some peppermints but they got eaten in less than 3 days.
