Thread: Black Ich Question

    Default Black Ich Question

Does anyone have a good pic of black ich? I just noticed some black spots on my ocellaris clownfish and I am REALLY hoping it is not black ich. I heard about Ace's tank going through it and it doesn't sound pleasant.

My 158 FOWLR went through it. My DF Puffer had it the worst of all, but it went away after it ran it's course. Sorry I didn't take any pics, but in retrospect I should have. They seemed to be more irritating than the "regular" ich, the fish scraped themselves on rocks ALOT. HTH...How old is your set-up?

My current Neo 90 is only two months old but I upgraded from a smaller tank. My clown doesn't seem to be scraping himself on the rocks or anything. Maybe it just has black spots?

Clowns can get black spots in response to rubbing up against corals as some kind of defense mechanism. Read this thread about it:

Of course, if other fish besides your clown seem to have black spots, or if the clown seems to have problems with his health, then you'd better read up on black ich.
