    head height if i did this correct is 73 1/2. does that make sense?

    the pumps are not made the same i think the get all corrosive

    Depends on the brand. Many "pond pumps" are the same as the "aquarium pump" of the same brand, it's just that they put a real long cord on pond pumps.

    I've been running the pond equivalent of the Mag 9.5 for quite some time and it seems to work quite well with no problems.

    I've been told it's exactly the same except for the longer cord. I can't say that all the brands are, however.

    Does the pond pump give you an estimated gph for 72" of head height? Could drastically change the pumping power, although pond pumps are hard core.

    well I really need something with power. However I going with something smaller. My intake is faster then my return.
