    Default Galaxea Help

I bought a beatuiful Galaxea coral about 10-11 months ago. It was large and bushy. We switched from 10,000K to 14,000K bulbs shortly after we got the coral. It has been slowly dieing off, and losing color. We just last week, switched back to 10,000K bulbs, but I haven't seen much, if any, improvement. I have tried spot feeding Cyclopeze, but it doesn't seem interested.

    Parameters:
    120G DT 5G Fuge
250W MH w/ actinic and night LED (Outer Orbit 48")
    SG: 1.026
    PH: 8.2
    PO3: 0.0
    NH4: 0.0
    NO2: 0.0
    NO3: 0.0
    CA: 450
    dKH: 10
    WWF: 1.0
    Temp: 78
    Current: Tunze Wave Box

All other inhabitants look good, including FS, Hammer, Xenia, Anemones and 2 clowns.

How deep is your tank? And how far down is the Galaxea? The light might be an issue.. try moving it to the sandbed then gradually moving it up, or vice versa if the coral is too low in your tank.

24" Deep. It is quite high in the tank, and has been for the entire time it has been in the tank. (it was very high in the LFS as well, they had the same fixture as I)

I just read that it may need lower light. I'll try that tonight

Yeah. I've just had to do that with a few of my corals as well.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I have had mine on the sand bed in the corner, farthest away from the light and goo flow. I have had it for about 6 months. It is doing great.

I am going to go in another direction on this one, I think your water is too clean. My LPS start looking bad if my nitrates go below 2ppm. I just recently had this problem when I added a second fuge and my nitrates dropped below 1ppm. Added a piece of uncured live rock and everything is on a rebound.
