Thread: Tomato Clown vs Cinnamon Clown

Default Tomato Clown vs Cinnamon Clown

Is there a sure fire way to tell the difference between a Cinnamon Clown and a Tomato Clown? I have a pair of what I am calling Tomato Clowns but they are a bit rambunctious so I'm thinking that they are Cinnamon Clowns.

Here's a picture of my tank, the clowns are visible.

Sorry, its a bit blurry. Its hard taking pictures of moving fish.

Look like tomato's. Cinammons have a darkish/black area on their bodies.

That's what I was thinking as well. The last Tomato Clown that I had turned really dark like a Cinnamon Clown so I didn't know if Cinnamon Clowns started off light then turned a darker shade.

Nope, not a filefish. I'm not sure which one you're talking about. My tank's inhabitants are:

    • Tomato Clown (2)
    • Papuan Toby (1) <--- Since been removed. The clowns hated him.
    • Blue-Green Chromis (5)
    • Devil Damsel (1)
    • Lawnmower Blenny (1)
    • Flame Hawkfish (1)
    • Sixline Wrasse (1)
    • Coral Beauty Angel (1)
    •*Bicolor Pigmy Angel (1) <--- New addition. He's a juvenile.
    • Horseshoe Crab (2)
    • White Sand Star (1)
    • Coral Banded Shrimp (1)
    • Fire Shrimp (2)
    • Long Tentical Anemone (1)
    • Mexican Turbo Snail
    • Turbo Snail
    • Astrea Snail

The orange tail leaving the right side of your picture. I mistaked it for a colored filefish. I'm betting the Toby is what I saw. Awesome tank!

Nice tank ! The way I tell them apart is tomato's have red bottom fins and they usually match the red color of the fish & in most cases cinnamon's have black bottom fins and yellow or orange tails
