torch corals

I have a torch coral that has six branches on it tonight i was watching it as i fed it and noticed that one of the branches tentacles was retracted enough to expose the mouth opening of one of the branches all other branches were extended but the one that wasn't from the opening in the end of the branch a white extension was coming out of the opening with about twenty or so tentacles on it and then would retract back into the opening of the branch about every twenty to thirty seconds this was happening my question is does any one know what this is i have only had the torch about a week and it really looks good to me any info would be greatly appreciated

I had to read that like ten times since there is no punctuation!
So the white arm is inside the mouth of the coral, and forcing it's way out of the mouth of the torch?
Do you have a pic? Sounds crazy.... My first thought was feeder tentacles.

sorry about the punctuation it was late last night. i will see if it is doing it again today and post some pics. the white arm with tentacles comes out slow and opens its tentacles and then retracts quickly so i will try to get a pic of it

Some torches/hammers/frogspawn can have sweeper tenticles. As long as the head looks healthy, it should be fine. If you see brownish jelly, there's a problem.

And yes, punctuation WILL get you a better, quicker response around here. When you are looking for help, please take the 20 seconds to proof/organize your post.

LOL ScorpiNO, I had to do the same thing. I think I know what it is..just a guess..I think it might be a barnacle. I have seen some thing like this before on another forum.

on chucks addiction it looks just like the second picture under the barnacle category!!! Would it cause any harm to the coral? overall it looks good except the one branch. the tentacles on the one branch are still mostly retracted, but no sign of the barnacle. thank you so much for the responses and i promise i will punctuate better from now on!!!!

The barnacle has probably been there the whole time. The Torch has grown around it and should continue to do so. It is very common.
