Thread: Lionfish Killing Tankmates?

    Exclamation Lionfish Killing Tankmates?

I have a volitan which has been in my tank for about 1 month. I have a 150G cube (3x3x3) with a powder blue tang, copper butterfly, and clown paired with an anenome. Yesterday my powder blue could not move one fin - like it was paralyzed, today the butterfly is doing the same thing. My tang died, and I assume the butterfly will do the same. Is it possible that the lionfish is attacking them and the poison is paralyzing the other fish? The only other thing I have added to the tank are two korelia 2's which the fish might be able to get a fin caught in.

The fish are injured and the onset and following death is within a day. Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

It is highly unlikely that the Koralias would cause the damage. I have a 5 inch Volitan that I keep only with a large Eel because he tried to eat my Triggers (Picasso and Niger).
It may be best to remove him from the tank.
