    Default My fathers christmas present

My Stepmom and I drove to San Marcos yesterday morning to pick up my dads Christmas present. Subsailor posted a 225g Oceanic with stand and sump for $400. You cant beat that with a stick. I jumped on it to buy as a gift for my Dad. He got me started in the fish keeping hobby when I was a small boy and hes always has a passion so I figured what better gift. Plus he never had anything bigger than a 100g. The tank needed a major cleaning and the stand had a lot of salt build up and water ware. After hours of scrubbing, scrapping, sanding and painting this is what he gets. The stand was a wood stain and I painted it black after sanding. The wood colored tank trim you still see will be covered by black trim. Hes a freshwater man but I might be able to sway him over to salt..

Nice score Ray. Your dad will be very happy.
Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

Great job, your dad's gonna love it. I actually got my dad into the hobby and he had a 155 gal custom tank built into his house at Canyon Lake. It's something we always share, and now my son wants his own tank!

He came out today and was completely surprised. He told me stepmom she did good, lol. Big smile on his face. Cant get him on the saltwater side simply because he gone most of the year on and off.

Awesome deal...Is it too much to ask of my 2.5 year old for a present like that...I think not. Well, maybe I will have to wait a few years
