    Default Switching to HQI

Any recommendations on 250W DE bulbs? Picking up my Giesemann fixtures this week and need suggestions. The MegaChrome Marine 13K's I saw at Aquatek looked nice. I'd really prefer to stay in the 12K-14K range.

Still like my Pheonix 14K's. You can tell me all day long that they are just "landscaping" bulbs but hey that's fine by me. In fact if you can show me where they sell for $10 a pop I'll buy 10.

fjr I guess you hadn't heard? Some folks were running off at the mouth about a year ago that the Pheonix bulbs were crapola because they were cheap industrial bulbs being sold to us hobbyists.

To that I say, "oh well" cause I like them.

If you are looking to save some money, check out the halide bulbs at aquatraders.com. I use their 250 DE 20k's with Icecap ballasts and they put out a 14k color. Crisp light with a hint of blue. 25 bucks a pop and they last. I've had great growth and no problems with them.

I have used the reeflux 12K bulbs, Icecap 14k bulbs, Reef Grow 15k, SPS 10k & 20k, XM 15k and a host of other brands over the years. Out of them all for coral growth I would say I have had my best results from the Reeflux 12 bulbs & the Reef Grow 15k bulbs. But this is just my 2 cents.
