Hmm. Temperature of the sun? Sorry, I find that too hard to believe. Where in the sun? The surface? 11,000 degrees? Or the middle at 16,000,000 degrees. Sorry, I call BS.
Cool video, though.

I'm with bstreep. I want more details.
Logic?!? Auuggggghhhh!!!!
What ever the temp is that is still way cool! I'd have to agree that friction from any two objects slaming together would be hard pressed to reach the temp of the sun.
I never knew thats what the popping noise from a pistol shrimp was.
Thanks Justin! Good to meet you this past weekend
You too Bill!

"........It also appears that the bubbles emit a brief flash of light when they collapse. This is because the bubbles compress so quickly that the air inside cannot escape. As a result, it becomes superheated, sometimes approaching the surface temperature of the sun. The flash of light is referred to as “sonoluminesence,” and it appears to be unique to pistol shrimp, as biologists have not observed a similar phenomenon in connection with other animals."
