Thread: Shredded BTA

    Default Shredded BTA

So my BTA which had been pretty much stationary for the past 3 years decided to start moving around this week. I didn't think much of it until I came home from work tonight and notice the water in my 90 gallon was really cloudy. A quick search revealed my BTA got too close to a powerhead and shredded him into a million pieces. Fish and shrimp all look healthy. Some of the corals look a little sluggish but not too bad at this point.

I pulled as much of the BTA pieces out as I could find. I also did a 20 gallon water change and I'm making more water to do more water changes tomorrow and beyond if needed. I've noticed a few of the corals have already perked up a bit. Any other suggestions on what else I can do to make sure I don't lose any corals or fish? My current plan is to test the water and continue daily water changes as needed.

Sounds like the best you can do from what I know. Hate to hear that this happened and best of luck on the clean up.
    Thanks,

Run a bunch of carbon, if you have a skimmer, run it wet. How big is the tank?

It would help if you would put your location into your profile. That way, when you have an emergency, and say, you don't have any carbon, others might be able to chime in and help you out at 10:40 at night!

Oooohhh I would have said to leave in some of the pieces. Same thing happened to me once and in turn the anemone pieces healed into baby anemones.
