    I'd abandon the Bio Balls and just use Live Rock Rubble. Bio Balls are just a cheap substitute. There are plenty of people here that had them and took them out after their nitrates started creeping up. I'm one of them. Good Luck.

    I agree with SoLiD. We had started to replace our bioballs with liverock rubble, when we upgraded to the new tank and just took them out all together. We did use them for 6-8 months and struggled with our nitrates.

    We have some in a bucket out in the garage you can have if you want them. I recently was looking for something else and knocked over the bucket, so spilled a bunch on the ground, but know I still have at least 1/2 a bucket you can have for free if you want them. They might be good enough to get your tank started and then you could just switch them out later...
