    Default Foam under tank

I am in the process of setting up my new 180 gal Glass Cages reef tank. I put a 1/2" thick foam insulation sheet under the entire tank. I just read some threads here and on Reef Central that said if the tank has a plastic molding around it that you should only put the foam around the edges. The plastic molding around the GC tanks is very thin and I didn't think it would matter if the foam is under the entire tank.
I'm looking for some guidance on this. If it could cause the glass to crack, I will take the tank off the stand and redo the foam so it only lays under the edges.

    Thanks,
    Rick

    Default Foam under tank

That's good to hear. I don't have to lift that tank off the 42" high stand again.

    Thanks,
    Rick

    Default Foam under tank

Thanks Fishn for your quick reply. Sounds like I'll be OK leaving it under the tank.

The foam is used to compensate for very minor uneveness on the top surface of your stand to avoid cracking the glass. As RayAllen said, you can get it at Home Depot or Lowes. It's used for insulation on homes.
