Phytoplankton is at the base of the food web. Marine micro-biologists call it the "hidden forest" because when phytoplankton photosynthesis's in the oceans it absorbs as much carbon dioxide from the Earth's atmosphere as all the plants on land.
I am selling three species of live phytoplankton: Tetraselmis sp., Nannochloropsis sp., Isochrysis sp.
Laboratory Grade
16oz Plastic Clear Bottles with Black Flip Top Screw on Cap
Tetraselmis sp. - motile, green, 9-10µm wide, 12-14µm long, with 4 flagella which keep the cells moving rapidly and constantly suspended in still water. Contains natural antibiotics.
Nannochloropsis sp. - non-motile, brown/green, 1-2 µm, these species are characterized by small cells with a simple morphology and typically live in salt-water habitats. Nannochloropsis species are widely used as food in aquaculture and have been proposed as a commercial source for the dietary supplement a omega-3 fatty acid (Sukenik et al. 1989).
Isochrysis sp. - motile, chocolate brown/green, 2-4 µm, live in wide range of salinity concentrations. This species is perfect for fine filter feeders like clams and oysters. Its relatively small size and ability to stay suspended in solution gives it a unique advantage over other species. It is more readily accepted as food because it tends to entangle itself in the catching mechanisms of many exotic and rare coral.
If you want the best for your coral, my 3 phytoplankton blend is what you want! No one else comes close to my quality and I can prove it. Simply bring your favorite phytoplankton to me and I will happily show you a comparison under a microscope and you will see the remarkable difference in movement, color, and density. Once you use my phytoplankton you will not want to go back to your old brand.
Scientific Testimonial
According to the Journal of Fish Diseases, "When used as a food supplement, the algal cells inhibited laboratory-induced infections in Atlantic salmon. Moreover, there was a reduction in bacterial numbers in tank water. When used therapcutically, algal cells and their extracts reduced mortalities caused by A, salmonicida, Ser. liquefaciens, V. anguillariim, V. salmonicidaY. ruckeri type I."

Experts say that Tetraselmis has a natural antibiotic which deters the growth of bacteria. In my initial petri dish experiments I observed a significantly lower cell count of Cyanobacteria (A.K.A. Red slime algae) in dishes containing Tetraselmis vs. the control which did not contain Tetraselmis.
Lower Maintenance Live vs. Dead Phytoplankton
Most commercial phytoplankton is sold dead and packed with preservatives. Though it is dead, it still contains some nutritional value. Live phytoplankton is fresh and full of vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Plus with live phytoplankton you don't have to worry about overfeeding. Since it's alive it won't settle to the bottom and rot like the dead store bought stuff. If you follow my directions, I guarantee my live phytoplankton will stay suspended in the water column and not degrade your water quality.
Critical Food Source For Your Reef
Phytoplankton literally is at the base of the food web. Almost all sea life could not survive without phytoplankton. This includes the life in your home aquarium. Phytoplankton is consumed by filter feeders like bi-valves, coral, shrimp, larvae, and many micro/macro-organisms. Organisms living in your sand, rock and refugium like copeopods and rotifers will multiply. Using my live phytoplankton on a regular basis along with my copepods will lead to lower nitrates, phosphates and ammonia levels in your aquarium. After 1 - 2 hours of adding my phytoplankton to your tank you will see a significant difference in your reef. Coral generally swell much larger as they intake more sea water in order to ingest the live phytoplankton. After 3 - 4 weeks you will notice a marked difference in color especially under actinic lighting. Colors in your coral will become much brighter thanks to the fresh vitamins and amino acids contained in the phytoplankton. Zoanthids go crazy for this stuff. Moreover, phytoplankton has a particular glow under actinic lighting which you will also see in your coral. Some customers have told me they noticed a, "Day and night difference" in the way their coral looked after their first dosing!
The Ocean's Bio-Pump
Phytoplankton absorbs phosphates, nitrates, carbon dioxide and light and converts it into oxygen and biomass (makes more little phytoplanktons). Simple version: It eats the bad stuff from your tank and uses it to make more good stuff.
Seeing is believing!
I have a compound microscope for you to look through and verify with your own eyes the cell count, species and that it is alive and swimming. The first time I saw my live phytoplankton using a microscope I was amazed at the amount of life contained in a single drop! The lenses are almost entirely filled with green rapidly moving circles and ovals. Simply amazing to see.
How long will it last?
It can stay alive for about two week if kept in your refrigerator.
