    Default 4'3' ....Foam??

I just read (briefly) the thread on the huuge tank. What's with the foam? It will go inside the tank ? What kind of foam? Bacteria make homes inside it with no deteriation? I have never heard of foam being used so any info or links to sites discussing it would be greatly appreciated... GO COWBOYS!

A few on the board use foam. Its actually great stuff foam that is used to create artificial rock structure or background. It is not toxi once dry and will not leach any toxins in the tank ever. Just like rock critters will make it their home. Over time you can not tell the diffrence between the rock and the foam in the tank. I actually have a foam structure in my aquarium with actuall live rock and slowly but surely they are blendng together.

This is not a new process, if you get on cichlid-forum.net you will see that people have been using foam a while rather its styrofoam covered in cement or great stuff.

If you use the search feature here on maast you will find lots of good info.

My entire reef structure for my 120gal is "great stuff foam" and "pond foam" coated with aragonite.

It actually colored up faster than my base rock.

The structure has been in the tank for over a year now. Works great! It allows for lots of caves and keeps the reef off the sand allowing for water flow underneath the reef when built with pvc and egg crate.

Check this thread out...this guy went nuts with it...

I prefer to use "black pond foam" though, because it's black, but it costs 3-4 times ($10-$14 a can) the price of the "great stuff foam" (about $3-$5 a can) but when stressed it allows for a more coarse final product versus "great stuff foam".

    Here's another one:
