weird clown behavior???
This morning I woke up to find my 2 clowns in the top corner of my tank. As I got close and turned on the lights, one went swimming off but one stayed at the top. He was lying flat and slowly swimming across the top of the tank. I thought for sure that he was dying, but less than 2 minutes later he took off swimming to meet up with the other clown. All has been well since....what was that??

I have one clown and usually thats the way he sleeps, sometimes it almost looks like hes just floating at night, but as soon as day comes everything goes back to normal

That must be what it was. It did look like he was just floating there. They are strange little creatures indeed!! Thanks.

Okay...now for something really strange. I just turned out my lights in my tank for the night and this same clown just went to the top and laid flat!! I turned the lights back on and he went about swimming as usual! I turned the lights out again and back to the top again! Very strange!!
He looks healthy and when the lights are on he swims normally...eating well. Humm...

Yeah, we once had a clown host with a heater!
I'd say yours has decided that's his sleeping spot.

Both of my false perc's host the return at night, although its better then the back wall of the tank which was their preferred place before this. I'd just say its part of the clown behavior that makes them so much fun to watch.

I agree they are really fun to watch. That just scared the life out of me because I thought he was dying. This is my first SW tank and these 2 clowns are my first fish. I had only had them a week and would have been upset if I killed them already!!

Clowns are pretty hard fish to kill. Thats what I started with and after I didnt kill those I figured I was okay to try something else. Now i've got gobies, more clowns, a tang, a wrasse and a blenny. Plus a couple of shrimp, two anemones and probably more stuff somewhere. Welcome to the salt water addiction.
