    Default Home Water heater warranty

Just found out my water heater in the garage has a leak at the base and some corrosion too. The heater has a 6 year warranty, my house will be 6 yrs. in Nov. so i should have warranty left. My question is....who should i contact? the home bulder or the heater company?...THANKS

I'm suprised the warranty is that long on your water heater,, double check just to be sure. you should have been given contact info with your closing papers but you will have to contact the manufacturer,, there should also be some contact info on the heater. if not just google the model and serial # and you will find what you need

Like suggested, get those model and serial #'s off the metal tag and call the manufacturer. I've only seen 5 yr warranties on the tank, but yours could have a better rated tank. They can then get you in contact w/ warranty companies in the area. You'll probably still be liable for labor (I think).

I wouldn't call the home builder. They won't usually mess w/anything after 1yr.

water heaters come with 6 9 or 12 yr warranties. best bet is to call the plumbing company that did your house. they will be the better ones to call. if they are a large company they may be able to do the swap out and just charge you labor permit and upgrade. remmebr the only thing covered is your water heater. as for a metal tag not looking in the right spot. your heater should have a white labe about the size of an index card or bigger. your model number and serial number is on there. you also have a 1800 number on there you can call them and they will be able to get you with a warranty authorized plumbing compnay.

I KNOW cause i am a master plumber and deal with warranty swap outs all the time.
