Thread: Urchins running out of food

Default Urchins running out of food

I've got a long spined urchin that is about the size of a grapefruit including spines, and a very small pencil urchin who seems to be growing, but they also seem to be out of food. They have kept my glass sparkling clean for the last few months, but now it is TOO clean. There isn't anything for them to eat. The other week I caught the large one eating a turbo snail out of its shell, probably was already dead, but that is what it has resorted to. Any way I can give these guys something to munch on? They are a fun part of my tank and I don't want to lose them or let them starve.

That was going to be my suggestion too. We have a pincushion urchin who sometimes latches onto the tang's nori clip algae and eats that.
