    Default Maxi-Jet Upgrades

i was looking for a stronger powerhead when i noticed that maxi-jet powerheads can be upgraded. Right now i have a maxi-jet 1200 with the two spinning arms attachment on it (like the ones AD has), but i need more power. Can any one recommend an upgrade for my powerhead? where to get the upgrade? or if the upgrade is even worth it?

I think you're talking about the Algae Free Sureflow 1600 kits. It runs about $15 at marinedepot.

Got two myself and I can say it's a good upgrade. I have them on a wave timer, so they chatter a little bit on start up. But, that's pretty much the only complaint I have about them. Still not a Tunze Stream, but a good upgrade none the less.

Just FYI, I'd highly recommend you get the magnetic powerhead holders also. The standard MaxiJet suction cups don't last and the plastic mounts are flimsy.

I have used several of the modded maxijets. They do a good job. I buy cheap algae magnets and glue them to it instead of spending big bucks on their special magnets. I just bought the mod for a little MJ 400.

Heard about using the algae magnets. Do you use a little bit of epoxy weld or superglue to mount the MaxiJet bracket to the inside magnet?

AD sells the eco-mods. I have a few and like them very much. Plug and play.
Don't put the price on the bag please.

I hope this is not going off topic.

How does the MJ mods compare to the new Koralia's?

Silicon them. The maxi's put out a more concentrated flow. and seems to be more flow. I like both.
