phosphate, calcium, magnesium, alk

Definitely get the Alk, Calcium, and phosphate test kits. To a lesser extent, you'll also want a magnesium kit, but I'd try and get the Alk, Ca, and Phos kits first.
Once everything's stabilized, then you'll only need to test; PH, Alk, Calcium, Phos, Nitrate, and maybe Magnesium.
Seachem kits are pretty reasonably priced and fairly accurate.
