    Question Skimmer

my built in skimmer just gave out, don't know what kind it was but came with my wet/dry filter setup for a 125 gal tank built in from Pro Clear, although my tank is 75 gal. reef tank.so limited on the size for a skimmer. does anyone know which would be good. any recommendations will really help.

A small euro-reef or asm skimmer would be nice.

Check your footprint size for where a skimmer could fit. That may limit you on which ones you can get.

Definitely get a new skimmer when you can....but in the interim I would try running your skimmer/pump in warm water and vinegar. That normally does the job if it is clogged in some way.

    Good luck.

Get an octo if you are short on funds and need a skimmer now. Best bang for the buck from what I have read and heard.

Jason at Aquarium Designs has a bunch for a decent price. Plus you can get 10% off for charter members.

Just saw you were from Laredo. Well if you come to San Antone check it out.

If you want you can just replace the pump and be back in business with the existing skimmer, if you're happy with it. It would be a good time to upgrade though if you're so inclined.

Ace used a maxijet 1200 and an airstone to fix my old skimmer and it worked infinitely better. Take the maxijet, and put some clear tubing (2" or 3") around the inlet for the pump. Put the airstone inside that shroud and tape it with electrical tape so it stays. Hook up the air pump, and plug in the MJ. It will suck the aire from the airstone in as well as water. It worked like a champ until I upgraded.

    Really.

I thought it was for anything you purchase. That bites. I almost bought one of the Octs from him this weekend...and would have expected the discount.
