Default Belize trip report with pics

here was our accomidations at the trek stop 80 miles inland and 3 miles from the guatamalan border

first full day in country we went on a canoe trip on the maknal river. we rowed 4-5 miles UP stream by the time we got there im positive my arms were ready to fall off

    nuther river pic

waterfall with a pool at the bottom that we canoed to. swimming here was amazing!

2 iguanas we saw along the way. if you look close enough the one on the right is black. some were big enough to ride, srsly

tarantula we found at the trek stop where we stayed

2nd full day in country we hiked to the ATM cave. read about it HERE

    entrance to the ATM cave

the cave was phenomenal. it was discovered barely over 20 years ago and contains remnants of 14 human sacrifices and TONS of pottery both of which are very old and all of it remains untouched and the exact same condition as it was found in the early 80s. there was a lot of talk about possibly closing it to tourists soon so if you are thinking of going dont hesitate

    obligatory skull shot

we managed to squeeze in going to the Xunantunich ruins before we left for Caye Caulker on our fourth day

    view from the top.

once we got to the island i drank more local beers and fruity drinks with umbrellas and took less pics. we did go snorkeling which was a blast especially since i could identify most of the things we saw. my only regret is not buying a disposable underwater camera to take.

    random shots from the key

in closing. this was probably my favorite vacation EVER. if you are considering going, DO IT. it was very inexpensive and a great time.

Belize is great and I agree. Stable government, English speaking. Great diving and bone fishing. The reason I bought property there.
