Been Gone a Bit

Well, I have been off the board for a bit as a very STUPID mistake on my part has been taking a lot of my time. I have a laptop for work and personal use. Everything I have done work and personal related is on this computer. I had a 50GB external hard drive for backups but as you can imagine, my last real backup was July 2007. I received a virus from someone I know through IM. I got it cleaned up but it had affect my graphics card and Vista somehow.

I decided to use the recovery disk. Well, you know how you are looking at one thing and for some reason you select something else. I picked the option that wiped out EVERYTHING. I lost all the work and personal items (including everything related to my tank) since July 2007. I have been working my tail off to recover what I could (not much), put many more safe guards in place and start a blog.

Well, I now have a 500GB My Book for backing up EVERY week. Overall, tank has done pretty well without a lot of attention.

Good to have some time to get back occasionally to the board.

There is a program from MS that is free and easy to use for doing backups, well synching to another source... Microsoft Synch Toy

The one I typically use is ROBOCOPY.. . . . . ... . . . . . . ........ .

Sorry to hear about the data loss, that is the biggest headache of them all.
