    Default Clown fish sick

My female clown fish's eye is puffy i think it is either pop eye or an eye fluke. What is the best course of action to take to treat this and what is her chance of survival.

    Thanks
    Jonathan

Sorry to hear that Jonathan, you should quarantine this fish in a 10 gallon aquarium and treat with MelaFix you can get this pretty much anywhere. I used it on my clown and it cleared in 3 days.

    Hope this helps...

I never tried it in the main tank so i really couldn't tell you either way, but my advice is to quarantine this fish for a week. You can pick up a 10 gallon tank at walmart for 8 bucks then make sure you have some kind of hang on filter that will cost another $15 and don't forget a heater.

    She should recover pretty quick...

i just got done dosing my 75g with melafix. just like all medicines becareful to get the dosage right(compensate for approx. rock volume and sump) turn off carbon and skimmer and follow the directions. i dont have anything special in that tank so my risk was not too great, even though it was a little touch and go, my gorgonias survived. i did a 5 day treatment and all went well. fish looks good. make sure you have fresh carbon on hand once the treatment is finished. good luck
