overflow question
In yall's sump, what do you have to keep the pump from pumping bubbles back into the tank? Do you have the water from the overflow landing on a giant sponge?

Generally, there are several compartments,, an area for water to enter then pass through several baffles and the pump is generally located at the opposite end of the sump. yes, you can set up a prefilter before water goes through baffles and enters return area..

Baffles will take care of it, unless you have the return far away from the skimmer. I have a bunch of live rock that the bubbles just don't make it through. Google "pressure locking sump baffles" it's an easy inexpensive way to make your own baffles.
