Thread: Looking for In-line Probe holder

Default Looking for In-line Probe holder

Does anyone know where I could find one locally - Austin or San Antonio area

3/8" In-line probe holder with compression fitting.

I am looking to install one of the pH probes in the return line (or 2nd chamber?) in the calcium reactor. The other probe would monitor the pH in the tank.

Pool shops sell some really nice ones. They may not work with our standard Pinpoint type probes, not sure, but they do sell awesome screw in type units with probes that can easily be removed for service. Guess what kind I'll be using?

They use this type of probe and NPT threaded fittings. http://www.automatedaquariums.com/h_1001.htm

Could you use a John Guest 1/2" fitting to insert a Pinpoint probe? If so you could get them from http://ryanherco.com/ (there is an ATX location).

It says it uses a BNC connector so it should work on the Pinpoint units, Id be curious to find out cuz Ima needin one. After looking again, for $110, I think Ill just get the Pinpoint probe.

One interesting aspect of the ones I listed is that you force water through a small test venturi keeping the probe squeaky clean as opposed to a dangling probe in slow moving water. Calcium, coraline, detritus, etc.. can quickly foul a probe in a slow move area. A spa specialist that I met at UT said that they rarely have any troubles with the screw in style probes and rarely replace them. If you look carefully at a lot of "our" probes, they are actually listed as needing to be replaced about every 6 months.
