berghia nudibranchs

has anyone bought any of the berghia nudibranchs for aiptasia control? i found an article that was saying they are the best aiptasia control out there and wanted to know if anyone has had them to find out if they work before i go and spend money buying them. thanks, jessica

I bought about 12 of them awhile back and they did not take care of my aiptasia problem. They disappeared into the tank never to be seen again and did not eat any of the aiptasia. Just my experience.

Do yourself a favor and just buy some kalk mix. It works really easily. I used a baby syringe used for giving them meds.

i tried that, but they came back double what i had before. i've tried peppermint shrimp and they don't seem to be doing much. i've tried the aiptasia control by blue vet (i think the brand was), that worked for about a week now they're back double what i had before i used that stuff. my polyps are starting to close from the stupid things. i have so many on my rocks some places i can't even see the rock. i don't know what more to do.

If its as bad as I've heard from people thats seen your tank your going to have to pull all that rock out and boil it. They've said you have1000's in there!

I have used them with success. I put 3 in a 55g tank I had a few years ago. With time, the Bergia eliminated most of a large aiptasia problem.

I ensured nothing that would predate on the Bergia's was present in the tank. I still have the rock, now in several other tanks and occasionally see a Bergia on the glass.

They did not eliminate all the aiptasia but were part of an affective solution.

I've heard good things about them. Realistically, my CBBs REALLY worked well on very heavily infested tanks. Just can't keep feather dusters...

well i broke down and got some of the aiptasia control by ble vet. i covered as many as i could. in a couple days i'll try it again. i'll probably end up getting something in the near future that eats them to try to stay on top of them coming back. the front of my tank looks really good now. i just have to do the back of the rocks in a day or two.

I set up a tank years ago for a friends father and a couple of years ago she called and asked me to pick it up because he was remodeling and did not want to mess with it anymore. When I got there the tank was 3/4 full and the 28 pound piece of live rock was covered in aptaisia. I tried injecting boiling water, my CBB ate the small ones but not the bigger ones. Then I bought two Berghia and it was like a forest fire going across my rock. Aptaisia after aptaisia started to disapear. I was only left with two jumbos so I tried the Blue Vet and it worked. The trick to Berghia's is you have to place them on the rock next to an aptaisia. Remember Aptaisia do not require light so they can grow where you can not see them until they multiply.
