    Default Coralife 130w

Hi. I am new to the website and new to the hobby. I have started a 55g tank. Currently I have the following in it.

About 2-3 inches of crushed corals
About 50-70 lbs of live rock
    Some Zoas
    Some Star Polyps
    2 True Percs
    2 Yellow tail Damsels
    1 Mandarine Goby (Dragonette)
    1 Starfish (sand sifting)
    Hermit Crabs and Snails

I had a clam but it didn't make it.

Anyway, my questions is the light that I have is it sufficient. I has two white bulbs and two blue bulbs. Just an off/on switch.

I mainly want a fish tank with some corral, but definitely not a predominately corral tank. Will the light I have support that. I will post a pictures of the tank in a few.

Welcome to MAAST. Clams need intense lighting, and pristine water. How long has your tank been setup? Are the bulbs you have straight or u-shaped? Do you have a sump or protein skimmer? Pics are appreciated.

The Lights are straight. I do have a protein skimmer (coralife super skimmer 65g). The tank has been running roughly 2 1/2 months.

When you get the money I would double your wattage to 260w(2 10K's/2-true actinics/CFL's or T5HO's). Your coral growth will improve and you will be able to add additional species. Your tank does look good, keep up the good work.

does that mean buying new bulbs only or will it require buying an entirely new light fixture?

All of this is so new to me.
