Default Help - Need Pump ASAP

I am setting up the 225 tank and it is 1:30 a.m. I bought a used Iwaki MD55RLT off of Reef Central. It arrived with the cord cut off and only a portion remaining.

I bought a 14 gauge, 15 amp, 125volt power cord and wired it to the wire sticking out of the pump. Plugged it in tonight after plumbing it and nothing happened. I unscrewed the black box, clipped off the old cord and wired it directly and still nothing happened.

Does anyone have an external pump rated around 1200 gph with 1" MPT outlet/inlet that I can borrow until I find a permanent solution? We have a huge gathering at our house on Friday night and I really want this thing running by then.

Thanks a ton. I would prefer you be in Austin as I probably won't have time to drive to SA before Friday.

    Lee,
I'm in NW Austin and have a pump you're welcome to borrow.
    It's external, 1200gph with a 3/4" fpt/mpt threads.
    Just let me know.

Did you check the voltage rating on the motor label? I've heard of someone buying an Iwaki pump on Ebay and when they got it they found out the hard way it was 230volts. The seller never mentioned that it was not regular voltage.

Well, the weird thing was on the pump it says 115V? I will get a larger cord and see if that works. That could be the problem.

    Thanks Chris,

Who knows, I can install lights and fans, but have never messed with this type of electrical stuff.

Your cord should be fine. If it says 115v it should work with a regular outlet then. Only issue might be is if the wires are not connected to the pump correctly. If you are sure the hot, neutral, and ground are connected correctly and it still doesn't work, then the motor is probably fried. I know you said the power cord was cut off, you might take the cover off the back of the motor to make sure that cord is connected correctly to the pump itself.
