Thread: Er … Dkh 19+

    Default Er … Dkh 19+

I did a water change last night 20%. But this time I added PH buffer to my new water before putting it in the system. Unfortunately I did not read closely enough to see that it also boosts alk. Since I was adding 20% new water I also added my B-Ionic solution ... hence the high Dkh. Should I worry about this … or be thankful that my ph is 8.3 and that it would take an act of God to move it with the current alk?

So far tank inhabitants don't seem to mind. Although just snails and Damsels and live rock, brittle star and sea-star (can't remember what kind).

Oh … BTW … I’ve got to acknowledge the committee members and higher ups for MAAST. Very frequently I get advice from them and I appreciate it a lot. The leadership here is fantastic.

glad to hear its 9.8 I've had mine over 20dkh before and it started to kill SPS at that point from the tip down. LPS and Fish and inverts all looked fine but I don't recommend it lol

If your Alk is at 9.8 and your Ph is at 8.3, Id go ahead and drink a few beers then take a nap....

Would have followed your advice Jim, however, someone gave me a 15 gal freshwater tank today ... it was a nightmare when I got it. I've never seen anything so dirty and nasty in my life. I spent the afternoon cleaning it up. I'm surprised all the fish in it survived. Now I think I can have a few beers.
