Unhappy I lost one of my favorite fish.

I haven't had him for long, but I was attatched. I never really wanted clowns until I saw this one and the one I bought with him. I posted them as new additions to my tank 2 weeks ago.

This one had ich, so I put him in my hospital tank, and he cleared up immediately. No, the reason for his death was not ich, or inhospitable conditions, but rather my stupidity. I put a Maxi-jet 1200 in the 25 gallon hospital tank so I could get a little more water movement for increased oxygenation. I haven't used my Maxi-jet in a while, and for some reason I didn't think to put a second barrier on the intake like usual. Well this morning I found him stuck to the intake, and lifeless. I was so happy about getting rid of the ich, and taking good care of him too. He was actually, obviously stressed and not in good health when I bought him. So having him well was really awesome.

I actully don't usually get emotional about much of anything, but for some reason this is getting me.

Anyway, don't let rushing to repair or medicate something make you forget the little details that could cause something worse.

I had the same thing happen on one of my cichlid tanks a while back. I was medicating, so I threw in a powerhead to, like you did, get some extra surface turbulence and oxygenate the water. I came home from work the next day to 3, yes three, of my fish sucked up in the intake. It was a sad day. Needless to say, I pulled the powerhead, fish and all, and threw the mess into the trashcan.
Sad, sad days when you lose healthy fish.

I lost two mandarins when my mag cut off during the finals. I had trained them both to eat bloodworms.... it sucked!

We lost our a clown and a citeron goby at the same time. Sucked right up into the power heads aT THE SAME TIME on opposites sides of the tank. Robin heard a grind sound and found them inside the PH.
