    Default Do Zoanthids "bleach" out?

i have a large piece of live rock and im assuming that they are Zoa's (but could be Palys) because of the little 'bumps" when they are closed .. well my tank was not doing so good for a few months and i lost alot of stuff.. i finally got it back together and its flourishing again and all of a sudden those "bumps" on that LR opened up and they are white.. I mean WHITE... bunch of little ones together like zoa's...
Is it possible that they bleached out?
    Do Zoa's even bleach out?
i've gone online and cant find anything..

I'll post some pics tonight.. i'll try to get some close ups... i know they are not just pale cause i've had some of those..lol these are white like liquid paper dots on the rock and then they look really weird when the actinics are on alone.. they look like that flourescent color of a whiteshirt under a blacklight.. lmao

Pretty weird, but it is not unheard of for zoas to bleach out. Too much light, too little light. If you'll check this guy's thread at the top, he has some pictures of his bleached zoas (he thinks they just got blasted with too much light though...) http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/inde...c=104718&st=60

Interesting, I've only seen my change color some based on the lighting and placement in the tank. Are there any other corals nearby that could be doing chemical warfare with them? I did have some start disappearing once, but it turned out to be some killer snails that looked like small nerite snails.
