Default Will Toadstool coral make tank toxic?

I have a very large Toadstool that appears it is starting to rip itself apart from its weight. I'm asking for suggestions as to what I should do. I've heard these can make the tank toxic if they start to die. Should I just cut it off at tis base?

I personally have experience with umbrella corals releasing toxins. I must have royally unpset mine at one point. It released toxins and darn near killed everything in the tank.

If I am not mistaking, you can frag a toadstool buy hacking off the cap but don't take my word for it.

I am not trying to scare you but be aware that these things CAN happen. IF this event happens to you, water changes and carbon are your best friend and act quickly. FYI, I still have my umbrella leather.

Go ahead and frag it. Just do it outside the tank--and use gloves--these guys STINK and it is hard as all get out to get the smell off your hands.

Just whack off the head--I usually do it at the base-- and cut it into pieces. Be sure to have some stem included with each piece. Set each frag on a rock and wrap with bridal veil to hold it on. You can probably take off the veil in less than a week. These guys grow FAST and lots of people like toadstools. Before long, you won't even be able to tell you fragged the big guy! ;)
The moment his HEAD is in view, hit it with the LIVE ROCK!
