Thread: 300 Gallon Prop/Frag/Grow Out Tank

Default 300 Gallon Prop/Frag/Grow Out Tank

The pictures below are the 300 gallon frag tank that I have in my basement. I have (3) 400W CoralVue Ballast with LumenArc Reflectors and 20K Ushio bulbs. As you can see, my sump is slightly "ghetto"! I have included other pictures of corals and ricordia that are doing great in the tank. But I do believe that a better sump would do much better. Any opinions advice would help.

Its in the basement so of course it does not have to look pretty. And I would like to design a sump made from fiberglass/acrylic. As you can see the sump is on the floor so I would not want to accidently put my foot through a glass sump.

Man, that looks great. It's a prop tank, does it need to not look ghetto? Where do you live that you have a basement? I thought the limestone here was so hard to work with that they just don't build them here! If you live in Texas, let me know when you feel like selling some rics! Everything looks great!

    Thanks guys!!

-Actually I moved from Austin about 2 months ago and now live in Kentucky.

-Thanks for fixing the link for me!!

-Yeah I guess you are right about the looks of the tank, a little ghetto is not too bad. But I think I could up the quality of the sump. As of now the Cheato is in the tank because of the sump.

i might be wrong but or a prop or frag tank wouldnt 10 14 or even 6700k bulbs be more productive. Looks really col though. Think i might have to go play with some tubs from lowes soon

I completely agree, the color temperature of the bulb probably is not the best choice. But, with the 20K bulbs I do enjoy it MUCH more. I have looked around for the "right" tub. I have some that are RubberMaid brand and they are no where near the quality of the tubs I got from Orscheln's Farm Store. Much thicker fiberglass/plastic and much cheaper. $149.00 for 300 gallons, cant beat that!
