Thread: Heater question

    Default Heater question

Is there a certain way to position a heater in a tank that is more benificial to another as long as it is submerged? (Im thinking horizontal close to water level) Also is it best to keep the thermometer as far away from said heater as possible to get the most accurate reading? Thanks- Andrew

    Default RE: Heater question

Most mfg's reccomend either vertical or horizontal position. In one of my tanks I run the heater in the sump (horizontal cause thats the only way it would fit), and it does a good job. My other tanks have them hung vertically, by the HOB filters outlet so they are near current, this seems to do well also. I Probably havent answered your question, but IMO I have not really seen any difference.
