Default Ever had a fish have a heart attack????

Ok, well the damsels killed by little one or so inch orange shoulder...

They were picking on the newest addition, a little tenneti... which is now unfindable.... so assume dead...

TODAY I was getting them suckers out of my tank!!!!!!!!

I have a 180 and a 2 x 2 piece of acrylic. I put that in the tank as a barrier. I moved the rock to one side and some of the fish were still on that side I was moving the rock from and trying to trap the damsels. Well... :( My powder blue was over there and I had to move him over. I grabbed him with the net (he is/was over seven inches or so big) and I bring him out of the water over one of the braces and put him back in the water. The fish went crazy, dove up and out, then back straight at the rocks, then started twitching and swimming upside down... Dead within 30 seconds... :(

I am so fricken sad now. I lost the two little tangs I have been looking for for months and months by those **** damsels... and now this powder blue trying to get them out. :( I hate them fish!!!!!!!!!!! All are out but one that escaped to the other side. I am now scared to mess with my tank in fear that any other fish have heart attacks. I can not find my yellow headed goby/sleeper fish. :( I hope he didnt jump out the back while I have been messing with the tank. And here I thought this was going to be a happy joyful day getting those butt head fish out of my tank.

use a trap. This one is easy as pie to make. I had a coral nipping damsel that ate almost all of my poor goniopora, and when I trapped it, I was relieved. It may have to sit in there for a few days, and you may catch the wrong fish, but there is a trap door to let them out. I wish you luck!

    JynxGirl,

i have seen what you described a couple times. once I was at cb pets with some friends and right before our eyes for no apparent reason whatsover, their beautiful copperband decided to jump out. it hit the floor, i grabbed it up fast and put it in the tank, but it didn't survive the day. what happened precisely would be impossible to tell w/ out a autopsy, but I suspect it destroyes some vertebrae, and I expect your 7 inch long tang was capable of generating enough speed to do the same.

The other time I saw it was in my own tank, a long time ago w/ some freshwater angels. I turned on the lights and the male in my breeding pair skitzed out and died. (angelfish do that sometimes. always smart to turn on the room lights before the tank light)

I am sorry you lost your fish. :(

There is another soda bottle trap you can make that I have used for damsels and caught about 12 in 1 hour period. I didn't feed my fish for a day so the trap would work a little better.

I took a good sized plastic bottle, cut it across about 1/3 down from the lid, took the top piece and turned it upside down and stuck it inside the bottom piece. Put a piece of frozen food inside the trap and once the damsels swim inside to get some food, they have a hard time finding the small opening to get back out and you have enough time to pull the trap and fish out. I'm horrible at explaining things, you might be able to find pictures online if that made no sense.

Nice to meet you at Horizon today. You were debating a long time for a fish. I hope everything is well with them and best of luck!!
