Rocks leaning against glass

How serious is the issue of rocks leaning against glass? What are your opinions on it? In my tank i have a good size one leaning against the glass with others stacked on top in my 55 gallon

I have a bunch or rocks leaning on my glass. 2 years so far and no problems. Even have a wavebox running and havent had any problems and i hope i dont run into any in the future.

When rocks are leaning on the glass, they create a pressure point in a very particular section increasing the chances of a possible crack in your glass. Many people do put rocks against the glass without any kind of failure but the oppurtunity for disaster does exhist. Also, areas where rocks are up against a wall, stagnant water areas are created. In other words you have ares where the water is not flowwing and detritus builds up.

I have one spot that shifted over time. It is a vary large piece. It doesn't really push against the glass as it is a large flat piece that parallels the glass. I wish I had moved it back when it happened as it is now an algae magnet. I can't get bewteen the glass and rock to clean it.

i have a 47 gallon column in which none of the rock touches the glass. Reason being, in a tall tank with a small footprint, you already have a great deal of pressure against the glass at a tall height. I have wanted to do that, but I am really not wanting any leaks!
