    Default help choosing skimmer

    so i have been looking to replace my beginner "seaclown" as mike named it i have been looking at the esu super skimmers or a euro reef or asm now if it was a euro reef it would be a used b/c im still a college student and cant aford a 350 dollar skimmer are there any other brands/ models that would be reccomended i can do sump or HOB and have a reluctant budget of about 200 bucks

    I've always heard good about euro reef skimmers, your tank looks so nice it'd be a pity to to a hob!

    thats what i perfer is a in sump however since its a bowfront its hard as crap to fit one in the sump

    I bought an Octopus skimmer a few months ago and have been very happy. They are Bubblewheel skimmers like the ASM and EuroReef. However they are much cheaper.

    I use the Octopus nw 200 on my 70g. sps tank and couldn't be happier. It's alot of skimmer for the $$.
    70g. 36Lx19dpx24dp, sps&clams, Eheim1262 CL, Eheim1250 ret. 30sump,20refug. Oct.200nw ps. P04 reactor, UV ster. 400w. 10K. LumenarcIII.

    I think this is pretty close to your budget - you might get Ace to downsize it a little to make your budget. I think my total with pump is just over $300:

    I love my asm G2
    Some people are like slinkys, they are really good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

    For the money I'd shoot for the ASM first. Then reach for an ER. The Octopus skimmers have a huge footprint for as small a load as they handle. I'd wonder if it would fit in the sump as you said you had space constrictions.
