    Default sump design

I have built my own sump of a design from Melvsreef but as for my plumbing.....Well this is what I have now

With this setup I really cant control the flow going into the fuge with out over loading the other side. So I was wondering if I put a T and directed it to the other side If it will work and still be able to control the flow going into the fuge. Like this

Yes a lot of people do that. (having both drains going to one spot of the sump with one of them split and controlled with a valve that would drain into a fuge. Just make sure you have a gradual slope going from one corner to the other side of the stand. Try using 45 degree fittings instead of 90 degree fittings. That will help the water flow better. Spa Flex is nice to work with since its flexible and glues just like PVC does. For redundancy I would put a ball valve on both sides of the tee from that drain. That way you can controll the flow going into the sump and the fuge. You never know when you gotta cut the flow off to the whole system ;) Plus I would add a union on that long stretch of pipe just incase you gotta remove it later to work on something.... Unions are great. Just make sure you got a valve placed BEFORE the union

Ok here is the new setup I have not installed the union yet but I will before I glue everything together

I am just unsure weather to cut slots or drill holes in the drain going to the skimmer or just leave it where it drains in to the bottom of the chamber in to the grate
