I used a lettuce nudibranch for my turf algae and he worked great till it was all gone and he starved himself. Be careful putting any kind of slug in your tank because some of them can take down an entire system if they die. I know the lettuce guy is fairly harmless once they die. Low toxin levels. You'll probably have to order him online because slugs breed in the spring, they're probably not available in most stores .

I had gotten three or four lettuce NB but I think my problem with them was they were pretty small, and I'm not even sure if they could put a dent in how much I have.
I think I'm gonna see about giving the sea hare a try maybe. My problem is that it's now growing on glass and the overflows so it may be a total waiste of time trying to rehab the system without breaking it down and giving a good scraping and just let it die off.
If this happens I'll most likely be getting rid of the corals and fraging around the pieces that the stuff is growing so it doesn't get into others tanks. This is my last resort because I have some pieces I just don't want to get rid of.

I had a small patch of it. What's weird is I switched my lighting to MH and within a couple of days it completely died off.

The Sea Hare is a hair algae eating machine, they'll eat cyno. too. I'd try one or maybe even two. The is though, once they get the tank cleaned up trade them back in or give them to someone else with the same problem. Once the gha is gone they will starve and die...

i can tell you my concern over chemically treating w/ an algecide... um... symbiotic algae... could it get whacked too? that would worry me.

definately try the sea hare first.

I put a call into FA and they're going to let me know when they can get one in.

if you have a hard time finding one, you might give samiam a try...

I don't think anyone in MAAST has given him a shot in a long time, but i remember he used to have some large sea hares available. He might have a hard time collecting one this time of year, I remember last christmas he said collecting during the winter was impossible do to the wave action.
