Thread: Do you ever just feel like your under attack?

Default Do you ever just feel like your under attack?

Since I have been in this apartment, I have had so many problems involving water.

    1) Last year I killed my tank when I forgot to turn off the top off line after getting called into work on an emergency.

    2) The top off line cracked open in a later incident

    3) Being paranoid about water leaks, I invest in a set of nice float valves, drill a hole in the top of my sump, run the line through the hole (snug fit) and snapt a lock line fixture on the other end of it (feeling this is secure) it runs flawlessly for 8 months, then in what I can only attribute as an acto fo God (or something else supernatural) the lock line comes off, the hose that is tightly mounted comes out, evaporation turns the water on, and I put 200 + gallons of water into my downstairs neighbors house.

This resulted in the disconnecting of the RO filter, the breaking down of the 120 cube (sniff) and me constraining my aquatic hobby to a little 30 gallon oceanic cube. the RO system is on my patio, and I only hook it up (via the faucet) when I need to make water.

    so, a month passes.

    4) I am at work, and I get a call from the very sweet lady FBI agent downstairs telling me there is water dripping into her kitchen all over the food she bought for thanks giving. Somewhere in my brain, a bloodvessel pops as I feel I have eliminated all the sources of a possible leak in my home.

So I rush home, and to my amazement, my kitchen floor is absolutely flooded w/ water. so is my laundry room. I check under the kitchen sink where i had the RO filter - dry. I can't figure where it's coming from... so I check the laundry room... and water is running out from underneath my washer.

    what the @#)$&@($&.

So, A quick inspection shows a pinhole leak on the cold water hose, it's pointing down, right where the metal end clamps over the rubber hose. So I am thinking, wow, it must be loose... so I tighten it up a little and bam! I have water spraying in my face...

as luck would have it, I had the presence of mind to turn the water off and flip the breakers (right there) I recieved a small jolt just as either i flipped the breakers or the GFI cut in.. not sure.

All I have to say is, I am happy it's not my fault this time and unrelated to the fish, but man I am sooo sick and tired of this!!!!!

well, all things considered, it looks like it's all going to be ok. there isn't any damage other than a little bit of wet carpet and nothing paint can't fix after it's dried out.

I feel horrible about the lady's fresh baked bread that absorbed most of the water though.

Man, sounds like a horrible streak of bad luck, Ram!
I guess you can always bake her some bread to replace the one that soaked up all the water.

Ive never liked aquariums in apartments. When I lived in my apartment I was always uneasy, like you I was on the 2nd floor.

Sorry to hear about another flood. Hope it all turnsout OK. After a busted hose on my washer years ago, I switched to braided stainless steel covered supply lines and never looked back.
