Thread: Photo editing software

    Default Photo editing software

I have been looking at the pics throughout the photography forum and would like to know what programs ya'll use to edit or resize your pics? I am looking to get a good program to resize and edit, where needed, the pics of my tanks.

I have a very hard time getting my pics small enough to fit within the requirements of the site. I see some pics that are a fraction of the size of mine and 5 times bigger.

I really need something since I'm shooting 6.1MP and my files are freakin huge.

You don't have to shoot all the photos in that size. When ya want to post a pic you can set your camera to 640x480. That size works great for posting here. Thats what I do.

i just use the software that came with my camera (image expert) to resize. i usually size to 600 to 800 pixels wide. there is a freeware program called "gimp" that does alot of cool stuff - so i have heard, i downloaded it and never got the time to mess with it.

    Nikon View, or ACDSee
Google has a freeware called Picassa2 that will work well too.

Thats cool. I just know that all my pics are huge. Even resizing to 300x400 in Faststone has the pics in the 200-300KB range. I like shooting everything in 6.1MP so that I get the highest quality pic possible. I need to start shooting in .raw format and get a decent editing program.

I'll have to look for those programs. I've got photoshop on my other computer here, but transferring the files isn't much fun since I don't believe in 3.5"floppy drives.

Thanks for the info on the free hosting, that should make things easier.
